Nitro Nite of Fire - 2018 Race Recap
CIFCA's 2nd race of 2018 is in the books! Maher Grabs his first win over newcomer Johnny Kirschenman at Sacramento Raceway Park's Nitro Nite of Fire this past weekend.
The California Independent Funny Car Association completed their 2nd race of the Good Vibrations Motorsports 5 Race series. June 9th at Sacramento Raceway Park’s Nitro Nite of Fire. Tony Trimp took home the System One #1 Qualifier with a perfect 7.500! James Maher qualified 2nd, followed by Johnny Kirschenman and Mike Troxel. Troxel won the Mike’s Transmission burnout contest and Maher took home the Aeromotive Fuel Systems Revolving Qualifier award. Maher also took home the Control Cables longest tow award. Making the haul from Los Angeles to Sacramento. Maher and Troxel lined up against each other in the final at this race last year with Troxel getting the win. However, this time Maher was out of the gate first and gave Troxel the stripe by .009. Troxel ran a quicker but losing 7.438 to Maher’s 7.485 on the 7.50 index. On the flip side of the ladder Kirschenman faced Trimp. This would be the third time two faced each other this year and they were level one victory each. Trimp was out of the gate first and ran a quicker but losing 7.477 to Kirschenman’s 8.17. Kirschenman was awarded with The final round was set between new comer, Johnny Kirschenman, and CIFCA’s current president, James Maher. Kirschenman in his beautiful 55 Chevy vs Maher in his 84 Tempo. Maher took home the Enderle Quick Reaction time award with a .045 light over Kirschenman’s very adnormal .352 light and at the stripe it was Maher running a 7.594 to Kirschenman’s 7.860. Maher took home his first CIFCA Victory and his first NHRA Wally! Maher currently leads the CIFCA Points series presented by Good Vibrations Motorsports.
